Who We Are
The Humane Society of Cherokee County, Oklahoma (HSCC) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization of volunteers who are dedicated to reducing, if not eliminating, pet overpopulation, abuse and neglect within our county. We operate a no-kill shelter supported by donations, fund-raising projects, memberships and grants. We are not affiliated with, nor subsidized by, any animal welfare or animal rights organization. We do not recieve funds from any federal, state, county or city government. We are a total volunteer organization.
What We Do
Some of our many activities are rescue, shelter, foster, spay and neuter, Resale Shop, adoptions including adoptathons and transports, and public events to raise money and awareness plus online including website and Facebook.
Each year HSCC handles more than 4,000 calls and emails; cares for 150 - 175 dogs and cats at any time; adopts and transfers over 550 animals; and is responsible for altering and helping to alter some 500 rescues and owned pets.
HSCC also educates and advocates on behalf of all animals, in cooperation with veterinary clinics, law enforcement and other agencies.
